These guys are absolutely brilliant for their grab and stone delivery services. They have good prices, they arrived exactly when they said, and their driver was really helpful.
Ordered 8 tonnes of 14mm granite chippings to top up an existing drive. Delivery driver was a great help and managed to dump while moving to save me barrowing on the 40m drive.
Great price on top soil, hell of a lot better than buying it in ton bags, with weeds in. Delivery on or before time, great service.
Great office staff always there to assist. Materials brought or spoil taken, it's always a professional service.

A1 Plant & Haulage York started in 1973, when Roy Handley set up a small car hire company. That grew into van hire, then Luton van hire and light haulage, and eventually into the aggregate supply and tipper haulage business A1 is today.
We're still family-run and still based at Elvington, just outside York, with our trademark orange wagons on the road every day.

We're a licensed waste carrier with an operator's licence and full insurance cover, including public liability. Copies of our paperwork are available on request, so contractors can tick their compliance boxes before we arrive.

What aggregates do you supply?
We supply Type 1, quarry stone, sand, gravel, topsoil, planings and crushed concrete, delivered by tipper across the York area. Call us to check what's available for your job.
Do you deliver to my area?
We deliver throughout York and the surrounding area, including Selby, Tadcaster, Pocklington and Malton. Give us a call if you're not sure whether we reach you.
How do I place an order?
Orders are taken over the phone. Call 01904 608463 between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with the material, the quantity and the delivery address.
Do you take waste and spoil away?
Yes. As well as supplying aggregates we do muck-away and construction waste removal, by tipper or with our grab wagon, so material can be taken away and new stone brought in on the same job.
Is the hire with a driver?
Yes. We work with our own wagons and our own drivers. We don't offer self-drive hire.
Do you do grab hire?
Yes. Our grab wagon has a hydraulic grab arm and loads itself, so no digger or loading shovel is needed on site. It's used for muck-away and for deliveries.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We're a licensed waste carrier with an operator's licence and full insurance cover, including public liability. Paperwork is available on request.
